Command bar won't stay put

Command bar won't stay put

I'm using Civil 3D 2017 on a windows 10 os.  I have multiple monitors and like to put the command bar on a monitor separate from the drawing area.  I've saved the work space and profile, my profile is current, yet the command bar won't stay where I put it.  Is there a fix for this?

That was the right method to solve this problem for C3D 2020, with one exception: After selecting your workspace on the left, you need to click on Customize Workspace on the right side, then proceed with the remaining instructions.  Thanks!

Jeff, This worked! There were about 10 Tool folders that I deleted. I saved the changes, exited the xml editor and fired up Civil 3D 2020. I reconfigured my workspace, set my LOCKUI variable to 15 and then exited Civil. Restarted my system and Civil and things stayed in place! Thanks!

The company I work for upgraded to Civil 3D 2020 and I'm having the age old issue of my command line not staying where I like it on my second monitor. Every morning when I launch Civil 3D 2020, my command line is comes up at the bottom middle of my main monitor one line high. I move it to the bottom of my second monitor, expand it to the full width of the screen, expand it up so I have 5 lines, and then change the transparency from 70 to 100% Opacity and I'm good to go for the day. The next morning, same routine.

I've saved my workspace many times. I've locked my user interface. I scrapped my custom profile and am using the C3D_Imperial profile. After reading JonnyMaun's thread, I got to the part about opening the profile with an xml editor. Here's what my CommandLineControl looks like:

I don't see nearly as many lines of data as yours has, could this be my problem, a corrupt profile?

Thanks

This all sounded like way too much work. I believe I found a workaround.

With C3d2020 open, I went to the following 2 folders:

C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\C3D 2020\enu\Support\Profiles\C3D_Imperial

C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\C3D 2020\enu\Support\Profiles

There is a file named profile.aws in the first one and fixedprofile.aws in the 2nd folder.

I renamed them both to *profileold.aws.

After fixing the command line in C3d, I closed it and re-opened it and the command line stayed where I put it because C3d made 2 new profile.aws files.

I thought it was easy, anyway, compared to the other solutions.

Thanks for the suggestion DOUGSLAGER3003. I tried it twice but no luck. The first time I opened Civil 3D, renamed the profiles to OLD, moved my command line to the bottom of my second monitor and set it up the way I like it, locked my user interface, exited, restarted Civil 3D and the command line came up at the bottom middle of my first monitor. I thought maybe locking my user interface interfered with the process so I tried it again without lockui and it comes up just the same, bottom middle of my first monitor. See attached image.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks

No other suggestions. It worked a couple of times for me but I regret
posting it because now it went right back to the old messy way.

I'm just going to have to live with it 😞

I don't think this was mentioned previously in this "series".

This works for me.
