Check to see what Point # it is set to use when you create the points. If the point # is already in the drawing it will go through the motions of create a point but nothing will happen just as you describe.

So I checked the point number and it does not seem to do anything. Also there's a minus sign in my cross-hairs in the lower right quadrant that I cannot seem to get rid of.

First can you post a file, and what versions....

The minus sign is a minor bug that will occur with any of the creation tools... This includes parcels, alignments, points etc..... The only way to remove it is to shut down C3D and restart it.

Do you remember the Point Number you gave to your point? If you do, you can try this:

  1. Right-click the Point Group (or _All Points) on the Prospector tab and select EDIT POINTS from the shortcut menu.
  2. The Panorama will open. In the Panorama. Highlight the row with the Point Number=>right-click and select ZOOM TO.

ZTP (zoom to point) does this, too.

I figured it out. It was something with my point styles and visibility not being on.

Use the Properties in your Point group and turn on visibility for your point style and labels.
