Clothoid

Using "Clothoids" creating Alignment when the design is exported to 2D the transition curves turn into tiny lines not to be able to annotate them as clothoids.

Is there a way to maintain clothoids during the export? I need to show these in my drawings as transition curves.

What is the best way to create a transition curve between two existing curves in my alignment?

Hi @Anonymous ,

When exporting to 2D it will always look like tiny straight as it is constantly transitioning. If you want to really show it just create (Tangent Point) TP geometry or label via multiple segment or change the color.

See animated gif and sample dwg as a guide.

Best way to transition really depends on your design criteria. I use Clothoid a lot in road design.

Thank you!

Did you check my attachments?

Alignment Layout Tools: Curves and Spiral settings gives same settings for all Line-Curve along the future Alignment.

Any more tips?

But I need a way to preserve the clothoid when exported to 2D , same way curves exported!

Hi @Anonymous ,

Unfortunately, this is how to software behave. It will only give you tiny segment of polyline and if it is not connected you can join them easily. But I believe they are connected already as polyline see below. If you want it to look like as is then data shortcut it and don't export to 2D.

Export to 2D = Polyline with SegmentsExport to 2D = Polyline with Segments

Cheers,

Jowenn
