We have a client that want a flattened survey. Points are to be blocks symbols (not a marker using an AutoCAD Block symbol). Is there a way to have blocks inserted when processing the points similar to the way Land Desktop did?

This is easy to do with LISP...
Thank you for the rely. I was hoping for some toggle/setup in C3D. I don't have time to look at this due to other projects. I guess I'll let the staff in our other office deal with this (flatten dwg, and show points as exploded symbols). Will look into it in the future.
you can't dumb down point styles with blocks into exact replicas, there is some rotation and scale problems with them when using 'export to autocad'
I asked DOTSOFT if they had something that could do this and they said it could not be done
Jeff, thanks for the information. I'll suggest we take a look at this. It might do for the short term. I'm uncertain how many projects we will do for this client, but we think it will be a lot.
It's not perfect and will not include marker blocks. But this will create blocks from the points.

Hi @654work
perhaps using the “exportcivil3ddrawing” command available on the output tab will do the trick considering that your client is looked for a flattened survey.
on a separate note, it has been my experience that engineers want to flatten cogo points and survey figures so they don’t snap to there respective elevations, so I’d like to mention that you can apply a flatten to a 0 elevation in the style of these objects! That will maintain the data integrity but visually it will be at 0!
hope this helps,

Thank you for the reply. We used the flatten last submittal. Unfortunately this makes each symbol an individual block, so trees and other symbols don’t have one block but many. Yes everything can have a 0 elevation as mentioned. The client does not want any Civil 3D information, so no survey figure lines, points...
Sound to me like your going to have to do several operations to accommodate your client. First explode the point data do that it's dumbed down. Then explode and flatten all your figures and then finally export the entire mess so that it can be opened in plan AutoCAD. HTH

Correct. That is what I did last submittal. I was just hoping to extract the pints into the original blocks defined in the point styles. I’ll look into Sincpac and possibly writing a lisp routine for future submittals.
thanks for the reply’s. That is why I like this form.
Not entirely sure of the issue, but you could enter the block editor and insert a point in the block, next save and explode all the blocks which will leave lines and a point in the exact position?
