Is there a way for me to easily copy and rename the highlighted item in this part catalog?

I have tried using startpartseditor and anything I do in the parts editor goes entirely unnoticed by civil3d. If I create a new item and save I cannot publish it, it simply does not exist. I have also tried parts builder which wont let me write over the xml file which I have no clue where it is or who has write privilege's. If you can assist me with any work arounds that would be much appreciated. My main problem is I do not know where to start and there are almost no resources from autocad on how to deal with these problems and I do not understand parts and how to customize them. Autocad seems to only provide you with step by steps but no high level explanation on how anything works and how it all comes together. If there are any FREE resources out there that  you can point me to that would be amazing.

Also how can I change the drop down fields in the part size creator to include more options?

What I want to do is create a parts lists that contains a list of structures that I can modify all of the parameters for to assist in auto labeling and creating tables. The information I need to overwrite is just the name, material, and size. However I need an infinite list that I can continually customize. Using the existing parts lists really limits me. I also need to save this down somehow so others can use it in our template. Later I will need to create customizable parts for water and sewer components.

Sorry if this is not well written. Welcome any questions and thanks in advance for any help.

Don't forget to use partscatalogregen when you make changes to the catalog, this updates your current c3d session. I don't fully get into all the partbuilder stuff but check out my AU class from 2020 as I go into making custom parameters and I mention in the handout some of the reference I looked up, one of the reference is from AU2013 I think lol. Good luck!
