Civil 3D crashes after copybase and pasting blocks from one drawing to another

Everytime I try to use the copybase command and paste for a block from one drawing to another, I receive this error followed by a computer forced crash. Sometimes I receive this error before civil 3d closes on me and sometimes my computer simply crashes after pasting without warning. This applies to multiple drawing files and not just one. I'm speculating that it may be a setting causing the issue since I've had this computer for many years without any issues at all until now. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
