Civil 3D 2025.1 release is live!

Hello, Civil 3D community!

I'm excited to share that the Civil 3D 2025.1 release is now live!

Autodesk has published a comprehensive blog post detailing this release's new features and improvements. You can find the full details here:

Some highlights from the release include:

• Performance enhancements for corridors and surfaces
  

• Over 1,100 new Dynamo nodes for working with alignments and profiles, corridors, surfaces, pipe networks, feature lines, and more

I tested the corridor grip edits with snap on and it's a great improvement! Can't say how many times I have had to drag a corridor grip to and fro to get it positioned. Thanks for this.

@RobertEVs I was a bit sceptical when I saw the video but I have tried it with my own corridor and the grip editing is buttery smooth now which is massive improvement. I have avoided grip editing corridors over the last few releases due to the poor performance (preferring to type in the chainage value which was quicker and less frustrating)

@lim.wendy @FrankHuang Just testing out the surface editing improvements in 2025.1 and noticed that there are some cases where the new functionality isn't supported - these are ADD Line, ADD Point & MOVE Point and I wondered why these were missing?

The ones that are supported will make editing much faster and avoid constant Style swapping/editing to see the TIN lines/Points

Very happy with the performance improvements overall.  I tested the time to open a set of drawings in 3 versions, 2025.1, 2024.4 and 2022.2.5.  

My testing shows for a heavy Civil 3d user the time saved opening drawings is well worth the time to upgrade, in one case opening a large drawing in 1/2 the time vs Civil 3d 2022, and 1/3rd quicker than 2024.

Check out my results.  I need to add some snazzy graphs in here, but haven't had the time.

I have 2025.1 and I still get the 'you must have triangles displayed for this operation' when editing surfaces. (13.7.765.0 Civil3D 2025.1 update).

Another defect with C3D 2025.1. If you use pressure pipes and split views, don't install.

I've been very glad I still have 2024 on my computer - there's ample bugs in 2025 that don't seem to happen in 2024.  Generally I find 2025 to work faster and better but with some things I revert to 2024.  Publishing to pdf is less glitchy in 2024, but if I uncheck publish to multisheet file, 2025 is faster but stalls on the last sheet (or says it does but the pdf already exists - just won't finish publishing) so I have to crash the program or kill the print side of things.

I really dislike the lack of anyone from AutoDesk in these forums - you pay thousands for a program and they just don't seem to care about user input.

@jwilliamsZRQUC you can always create a Support Case which is the best way to engage with Autodesk but you may not get the answer you want e.g. "we've escalated it to development and we can't say when, or if, a fix will be released"

yep, we've done that.  Most of us, in my office, are experiencing crashes on bigger base drawings so we've been investigating that but no real solutions.

If the crashes were as consistent on 25 as 24, I wouldn't think much of it, but so far all the "fixes" are "work arounds" and not actual fixes or updates.

Want my advice I suggest you use the Autodesk assistant. I was contacted directly by an Autodesk Tech to help me with my issue.

Thanks, we've done that with multiple issues - still having crashes without much resolve. Oh well - just seems to be the norm now.
