Civil 3D 2020 Survey Database, Edit/use Survey figures slow or causes crash

Has anyone else experienced severe lag and even exception errors when editing or changing survey figures add to a drawing from a C3D 2020 Survay Database?

We and a host of other firms are having issues with using survey figures from a 2020 Survey database, whether created new in 2020 or a converted database from 2018. Is creating Survey database on local devices the real solution, or just a work around for now? 

This doesn't seem to address the lag, lock and slownesss experienced when editing survey figures that do not cause it to crash.  This issue does not seem to happen on every Survey Database project using the same device with the same setup as long as the hardware accelerator is turned off.

I can supply datasets upon request. Just want to know if anyone has experience or insights on this issue.

Would you be having this issue on all machines running 2002?

I would possible consider uninstalling the SQL Server Compact 4 and reinstalling, I might also consider uninstalling and re-installing the .NET framework  3.5, 4.7as well. These are just some suggestions, as I've had to uninstall & reinstall these sometimes. Its been an intermittent issue that I've seen since 2011-12ish. (Note there were recent updates to .NET framework, and this might be part of the issue.)

I can't seem to find anywhere where it states that SQL Server Compact 4 is required for installing and running Civil 3D 2020 and the Survey Data Base?

All the survey related files are SQLite files which relies one having the correct version installed. As you can see here I have several installed since I have versions 16-21 on the system.

Thank you for your help. It appears that some of these need to be "refreshed" after SP and updates, and installed on other new devices.

One would wonder how so many devices do not have these installed.

Since these version rely on these being installed, why doesn't the documentation for installing Civil 3D note their specific requirement, and the process of installation check to see if they are already installed? One can install Civil 3D without having these or being told that the software needs them. Only to find out that they are missing by the software crashing.

I hope I am missing something and that this is not really the case. Looks like there is more installation testing and document searching to do.

If you look at the required run-times for Civil 3D 2020 and 2021 there are no SQL installers listed. But for 2015 to 2019 the installer was: SQL_Server_CE_4.0_SP1\SSCERuntime_x64-ENU.msi.

So for 2020 I think the required files are likely bundled with the main program.

@GTVic I'm thinking the same thing. It's a little under the radar. Fixing it's generally easy. Figuring out how is sometimes quite complicated
