Civil 3d 2020, Love it or Leave it??

Considering upgrading to 2020 from 2018 in a few months.  What do you think of Civil 3d 2020?  Love to hear your thoughts.

@brian.strandberg

I never got chance to work civil 3d 2018 but used 2017, 2019 & 2020. What i have seen in 2020 is wrote here,

1. In previous version of civil 3d Shortcut Icons and Main File on civil 3d window icon was shown as " A " but in civil 3d 2020 its showing as " C " which is really nice to see.

2. In C3D 2020 whole work space color and icons are highlighted and looks nice compare to previous versions.

3. In C3D 2020 most of the icons preview images are changed in appearance and looks nice with background color.

4. In C3D 2020 & 19 we can see all transparent commands under on tab(transparent) on ribbon.

5. In C3D 2020 Under collaborate tab on ribbon special options are available which makes designers life easy to compare a drawings each other i personally felt this feature is very useful.

6. In C3D 2020 & 19 on ribbon Rail Tab is useful to make railway network projects and designs more smooth.

7. In C3D 2020 another option Parcel_CCW available for Parcel report generation.

8. In C3D 2020 Special feature available for structures installation under Network Layout Tools.

9. In C3D 2020 Special feature available for adding objects on profile crossings.

There are always bugs in any release. However. I had started a number of support requests for issues in 2019 earlier this year. Autodesk confirmed some of them. In most cases 2020 was the only version that didn't have those issues. At least one of them was important enough to include in the post 2020 release of the 2019.3 update.

So all in all I'm very happy with 2020 including the performance. Personally, I don't like the color schemes. But I'll just get use to it.

Thanks Allen, I appreciate your feedback.  I support 100 people with Civil 3d so more issues is a big headache for me, as I am sure it is for you also.  I am going to start building a spreadsheet with 2020 known issues so as they appear I know what to do.

And I agree with you on the color schemes!

Thanks.

Thank you Neil!  I have read about or used many of these features, I'm mostly want to know, does 2020 have more issues than previous versions?   I am very cautious about upgrades.

Thanks for the information, this will work into my decisions.

I review the Fixed Issues for 2019.3 and 2020. I didn't see either of my main issues addressed although I was told they were. The 2 main ones that aren't occurring in 2020  are that there is no longer a long delay for Upgrading Cogo Points when reloading a drawing with points in it and Editing a Surface no longer adds unexpected points

Eliminating either one of these was worth moving to 2020. If you want. Share your spreadsheet when you're done.
