Civil 3D 2016 survey database permissions

We've run into a situation where a colleague and I cannot see survey databases that the other has created unless they're in a root directory. If I set up a job and save the database within the job folder structure, then Tim can't see it when he sets the working folder appropriately. However, he can access if I leave the database folder in the root directory on our survey drive (Z: in this case). And the opposite is true. If Tim creates a job, I cannot see his database when it's located within the job folder, but I can if he saves to the root.

Wondering if there's some kind of data security setting that might have been activated in our template that might precipitate this kind of behavior. Suggestions - even wild-ass guesses - are more than welcome. Thanks in advance.

So what is happening here is there is a XML (or some type) file that is created on your local machine when you create the SDB, and the same is true on the other machine, that tells C3D where its at. As a work around if user A creates a SDB and then user B needs access to same, if user B creates the same SDB then it will appear in his list and it can then be accessed easily from the list on the Survey Tab.

There might be a programmable solution, so that this happens a little easier but I've done the workaround for a while.

We ran into similar issues when initially trying to setup our survey database structure.  Our solution was to set one working folder for our survey databases.  Ever since we did that we have had zero issues.
