You'd have to contact the creator of CFS or install basic AutoCAD. It probably is looking for a registry entry that is created when AutoCAD is installed. Civil 3D gets installed in the registry in the same location, but has a different folder.
The problem only started after I loaded C3D 2016 and Arch 2016 on one machine. When I loaded on a second machine, it didn't have any problems with CFS. I've had CFS loaded for years without that requirement. Any other ideas?

Oh...that's kind of horrible. Must it require an uninstall....after a few hours of setup 😞
Hi mikeshick,
I do understand your frustration. At this time the only fix that we have available is to perform a clean uninstall/reinstall. Our development team is currently looking to see if a fix can be provided in a future release or update.

I'm getting the same message "Run Setup.exe to install AutoCAD 2016" every time I start Microsoft Word!!!!!!!
I started getting the message after I uninstalled AutoCAD 2013.
Hello,
I have today the same failure with AutoCAD Civil 3D 2018. And I repair Civil 3D and the Problem was solved. I think it is a better alternative.
Best wishes
