Change reference surface and reference alignment in pipe network

Hello everyone!

I've been struggling with this problem since I started to work with pipe networks.

Often, I have to assign pipes and structures, different reference surfaces and alignments. However, when I select a group of them, I can't select, for example, a reference surface for all of them, because the "pipe properties" or "structure properties" button, because that button can only work with one structure or pipe at time.

Is there a way to change the reference surface or alignment for a group of structures or pipes at the same time?

Certainly, I can enter in the Pipe Network Vistas and change the properties of multiple parts. But in that space, I can't select pipes from the model space. Instead, I have to select them from the Pipe Network Vistas, forcing me to "guess" what parts I have to select.

I would appreciate your help with this issue.

I'm not aware of a method to accomplish this aside from using a 3rd party add-on. When using the Pipe Network Vistas, it may be easier if you adjust the view to only display the Start Structure, End Structure, Reference Surface, and Reference Alignments columns, reducing the amount of guesswork. If not done so already, you would need to add structure labels.

Hope this can help.

Use the panorama. sort/ highlight the items desired, then right click the column heading for alignment or surface  and choose edit.

How is it you need to guess in the vistal but not in model space?

If selecting in MS is your preferred method you can temporarily split from network >> vista global edit then merge back

If you were to consider third party add-ons, DotSoft's C3DTools contains a Set References tool that sets the referenced alignment and/or surface for a selection set of pipes and structures along with associated labels (in 2013 or higher). Pipe network objects can be selected in plan or profile view.

Joe, thank you for your reply.
The problem is that, when I start creating a network with multiple alignments, I don't know how to select the network parts by alignment in the Pipe Network Vistas, in order to put the correct alignment for each part.
Although I can see the name of the parts, both in the Vistas and Model Space, selecting them one by one seeking the name of each one in the vistas and model space, is really tedious.
That's why I am wondering if there is a way to select the parts in the model space, and, somehow by a method I ignore, select the same parts in the vistas at once.

Thank you for your reply. In fact, that's what I've been doing, maybe I should consider using a third-party add-on, as you recommended.

Hello @rodricarr66

If you know the part to select (for a given alignment and surface) in MS use that method and temporarily "split" from network. Now for this new network open the vista and and globally change the alignments and surfaces.

then merge back to the original
