Hi, all.
Was wondering: is it possible to either edit the "<default>" point and label styles or change the point and label styles that cogo points with unknown description code are assigned by default?
I don't mean "how to change the default point and label styles" - that's easy. I'm talking about the "<default>" point and label styles, a style actually named <default> that is innate to Civil 3D that is assigned to points that have a code that it doesn't recognize (not in the description key sets).
Here's the situation:
- If a cogo point is created with a code that is recognized by the Description Key Sets (DKS), it will use whatever point and label styles we assign there - this works;
- If a cogo point is create without a code (empty code), it will use whatever point and label styles we assign to the "empty" code in the DKS, like the images below - this works:
- Here is the problem: if a cogo point is created with a code, but one that the DKS does not recognize, it will not use the styles assigned in the "empty" key (see image above), but it will use the style for point and labels called <default>. See image below:
I’ve looked everywhere but could not find where that style is stored. Nor could I find how to set the style for unknown codes – The obvious place to change/find that would be:
- Toolspace > Point > Point Styles – not there
- Toolspace > Point > Label Styles – not there
- Toolspace > Point > Description Key Sets – not there
- Toolspace > Point > Commands > Create Points > Default Styles – not there
One of the reasons I’d like to change it is because, occasionally, our field survey crew will use a code that does not exist (happens for whatever reason), and when those observations comes into drawing all they get is that <default> style, which only places a tiny “x” on it…
At this point, is it even possible to change that?
Thanks in advance for any help
Edgar
