Change cross slope on a road at catchbasins

We have a road commission that wants all roads at 2% cross slope, except at catch basins it needs to be a 3% cross slope.

 

We usually just put a a surface adjustment factor into the catch basins so the rim reflects the 3%.

 

Now on newer projects the road commission wants detail grading on all cross slopes and such.  So we use percent slope arrows to label the cross slope.  From now on we want to model this 3% cross slope so all smart labeling works.

 

What would be a best practice on this?  I would design a road at 2% cross slope.  Place catch basins.  Then how would I easily make the cross slope at specific catch basin stations slope at 3%, with a 10/15' adjustable slope to and from the catch basin.

Before anyone answers, I think a little more information is necessary.

1.  Two or 3?  Several more?

2.  Is there much of a centerline grade?

You could create a new assembly with the 3% cross-slope and use that in the Region of the catch basin in your Corridor, with a gap between the 2% and 3% sections for the transition. A second way, especially if you need triangulation in the transition gap, then you could use a single Assembly that allows for Superelevation of your lanes, and customize the Super Table so that it includes your 2% and 3% regions and the desired transition lengths between.

@Anonymous super elevation idea is intriguing, I'll have to try it next time I have this type situation. You can also use a feature line as the elevation target of the lane in the area of the catch basin to change the slope and create the transitions. If only those feature line is on a specified layer you can target globally by layer. You do have to manually review and adjust the feature lines any time there is a change to the baseline, profile, etc.

We have never used super elevations, but this sounds like a good idea.  Triangulation is a must since we typical create Machine Grade files for the contractors from our design files.

     2 or 3 what?  2% Cross slope and we will transition into a 3% cross slope at catch basins.  Catch basins on both sides, on several roadways at several points.

2.  Is there much of a centerline grade?

     Centerline grade varies from 0.75% to 10.0%

You could use conditional subassemblies; if target is not found=2%, if it is found, then 3%. You'll have to have a polyline indicating the length of the inlet. Otherwise, it's straight forward.
