Check Tree connection of XRef if your reference is in another one.

If isn't, try to change located path at the bottom of your screenshot. If you don't have this file, change by another one (blank e.g) and detach this file after.

If it was xref in ps on multiple lAyout tabs it will not give the detach option until the layouts are removed or xref deleted fro same

Guillaume,

Check Tree connection of XRef if your reference is in another one.  Can you elaborate on this one ?

Joe,

  1. The file is deleted for the folder.
  2. The drawng is referenced in model space and not in paper space.

Let's say for example you have drawing A which has drawing B attached as an Xref.

Then within drawing B, drawing C is attached as an Xref using "Attachment" Type.

This causes nesting and is considered a nested Xref in drawing A.

Now drawing C has been deleted, so file C.dwg is greyed out in the Xref Manager from file A.dwg and cannot be detached.

Try opening drawing B and detaching the missing xref there.

If that doesn't work, try as @Guillaume.Desmedt has suggested and simply repath the missing xref in drawing B to any other dwg.

Then detach the repathed dwg file.

First set to Tree View on upper right of Xref Manager

If you need to try repathing drawing C to another file from drawing B, browse to the file in "Saved Path" here:
