Can't create surface from grading group

Hi everyone,

I used grading to create multiple layers of embankment, but I have an issue when I want to create surface from grading. Namely, if I just create grading with grading to surface criteria, without automatic creation of designed surface, as result I get grading that looks just fine. But if I want to create surface from this grading, then Civil 3D stuck, and I have to shut it down from Task Manager.

I would appreciate any help to solve this issue.

Thanks in advance,

Djole

I suspect corrupt grading objects.  AUDIT the drawing, but I'm not sure this will resolve the issue.  It is a pain.

Corridors can be used instead of gradings, are more robust and won't crash your drawing although require a bit more management to get the desired results e.g. bowtie resolution

Thanks for advice Brian, but unfortunately it didn't help. I will have to try something else.

Thanks for advice @neilyj666 . I tried creating corridor instead of grading, and when I wanted to solve one bowtie I found where actually was issue with model. Namely, there was one additional point in feature line and such line made all of problems with creating surface. I removed it and now all is fine, grading works.

That would certainly give you a problem with grading...!!!

I will typically use OVERKILL on anything I'm going to be using for gradings.
