can not extract point coordinate

I have few points in civil 3D, andI'm trying to use "extract data" to extract the x,y,z coordinates. However it's not working.

Does anyone know the reason?

Hi @Anonymous,

Welcome to our community! Thank you for reaching out in the Autodesk Forums. This is a great platform where you and the rest of the community can benefit. I need a little more information from you.

  • When you mention points, are you referring to AutoCAD points or Civil 3D COGO points?
  • Are you using DATAEXTRACTION (Command) when you said "extract data"?
  • Can you attach some screen shots, screencast and/or .dwg for us to take a look?

Hi Wendy,

Thanks very much for your reply.

It's civil 3D Cogopoints.

I'm using command dataextraction. I want to extrac the Cogopoint coordinates to Excel file.

Please see the following image for your reference. I'm extracting a point data, however the coordinates data are not shown in this page.

Thanks very much.

@Anonymous,
Welcome to the Autodesk Forums.
I think DATAEXTRACTION only works on AutoCAD Objects, not Civil 3D Objects. I might be wrong on this, but I tried just now, and the command doesn't seem to recognize COGO Points. For COGO Points you'll need to use use Export Points.

Dear Dave,

Thanks so much for your answer.

I have another question, hope you can help me.

Is there a way to mark points on a polyline at specific interval?

For example, I want to make some points at 0+020, 0+052, 0+063, 0+122 on a polyline.

Thanks.

@Anonymous,
"Is there a way to mark points on a polyline at specific interval?"
Yes, but you'll first need to convert the polyline to an alignment. Then you can use Create Points - Alignments >> Station/Offset or Create Points with 'SO (Station Offset) Transparent Command.
