Calculating Areas in Text Field

I have a map that I am creating. On this map, I am showing areas for different paddocks.

Currently, to get the area, I am adding a hatch to the paddock, and then with a text field, I am going into Field (ctrl + F), choosing the object I want to get the area of, selecting 'Area' as my property option and then doing 'Additional Formatting' of this number.

I am adding a conversion factor and a suffix.

Is this a way to have these two numbers (conversion factor and suffix) pre-populated so I don't have to input it every time?

Or, is there a better way to get the area that I don't currently know about?

Cheers

I have had luck in the past with creating a line (& curve) label that reads a polyline area. From there you can set the style to your liking and add any, conversions, units, suffixes, prefixes, etc. Then what I have done, is set the leader visibility to false and drag the label to where I want it in the space. you can use BPOLY instead of hatch to enclose the same areas if your paddocks are not already closed polylines.

Not a perfect solution but a couple fewer steps than the hatch field.

Alternatively, and this may not be feasible as these paddocks may not be what I'm envisioning, you could use the parcel tool to create these areas and then use automatic parcel labels to present the info you desire.

The parcel tool can be daunting to learn and master, but a good starting place to learn it would be here...

If you are looking for a plan label you can use a civil3d line label style, styled for area. by selecting a closed polygon (That would have been used to hatch) this is very good and dynamic.  set to singe segment and drag to desired location, toggle the leader off and pin the label. now it wil stay put if you push pull the boundary.

choose the format you want add prefix suffix as wanted

or create parcels.

If you just want to add them up DATAEXTRACTION

To add to what @Joe-Bouza said. Once you have the area calculation (highlighted in blue in his image) you can add any text you want and it will appear in every label. You show a conversion factor of 1. Is that necessary?

Hi Hamish,
To add to the excellent advice here, you can leverage the Map tools by using MAPEXPORT (Polygons) and adding Area as Object Data.

Creating parcels would be the best way. Then if you change the areas, it will auto update for all lines shifted.
