AutoCAD Civil 3D 2018 to AutoCAD 2018

Hello,

Can an AutoCAD 2018 user to open directly  a Civil 3D 2018 file to perform minor edits (txt)  and plot drawings?

I have a Civil 3D file with about 29 layouts sheets, when I used the Export Option- it creates a file for each layout, and puts the layout in a model space in the new files; generating duplication of effort when trying to plot the sheets.

thanks in advance for your help!

Regards,

Dennis

From a little bit of testing, it looks like it will work.

When opening a C3D 2018 drawing using ACAD 2018, a Proxy Information dialog box will probably appear.  As long as you select "Show Proxy Graphics", it seems to work just fine.

Hi @Anonymous, welcome to the Autodesk community!

Yes, please make sure the user install C3D 2018 OE in the AutoCAD, here is the link:

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/search-result/caas/downloads/content/autocad-civil-3d-2018-object-ena...

This is will allow them to see the C3D features but they CAN'T edit them, just for display.

If not you will need to do an _AECEXPORTTOAUTOCAD

Hope this will help!

as long as the AutoCAD user has the OE, or PROXYGRAPHICS are set to 1 in the C3D drawing, they will be able to open and see everything.  they can edit text and similar AutoCAD objects.  they just wont be able to edit any AEC objects (surfaces, corridors, alignments, etc.)
