AutoCAD Block Extents

Hi all,

AutoCAD seems to generate an extents around the boundary of all objects in a block.  Is there a way to control this behavior?  i.e a way to make AutoCAD ignore certain parts of a block when generating a boundary.

I ask because I use blocks as point markers, but blocks of odd shapes can cause issues with the leaders not pointing where I need them to point.

See below on how adding an extra line causes the leader to drift.

So, this is a long-standing issue that I've not been able to solve, nor do I think it can. When using cogo points with round objects, the arrow seems to rotate around a sqaure, I attribute this to the point block only being scaled in 1 direction. It's been around and been that way forever, even when you set the style to go to the block. (Squares work most of the time.)
