AutoCAD 2020 - Civil 3D won't publish all Sheet - Stuck at "regenerating sheet"

Hello,

Our firm recently purchased AutoCAD 2020 and we can't seem to publish some of our projects.  Some of the sheets with xrefs get hung up at "regenerating Sheet" and won't process or it takes hours to publish.

1. After purging / auditing every sheet and xref we found the same result when publishing from sheetset manager:  Stuck at "regeneration Sheet" 

2.  We then tried to turn off "publishing in the background"  = no luck

3.  We then tried to publis directly to PDF = no luck

4.  We then tried to print indvidual sheets = success

Unfortunately we have some projects with 80+ sheets.  Printing each sheet indvidually is no a viable option.

We need to be able to use the publish all sheets from sheetset manager. 

5.  We tried publishing the same sheets form sheetset manager in 2018 = success

Do you suppose this is some system vairable that is incorrect?  

Is there a 2020 patch that will fix this issue?

Any ideas welcome!

try running from Civil3d as autocad.

by chance do your drawing contain XREFs that have civil3d data references in them?

I am experiencing the same problem and did all of the above. None has worked yet. Unfortunately my sheet set manager or publish it will only print up to sheet 4 and will not print anything past. The total amount of sheet I am trying to print is 50. Does anyone else have other suggestions I could do? I even tried the links suggestion below and it still does not work.

log into your PC as an all new user with local admin rights then try it: still hangs?

Still trying to figure this out. I tried to Print Publish the sheets from
the dwg itself and the result was the same for all my dwg files.

Are you plotters and pens local?

Yes they are local and there no problems with that. See I can print other sheets before the sheet that bogs it up. I am admin to this computer there are no other logins.  I have tried to use sheet manager to do a batch plot, publishing, simply printing each sheet until it gets hung up on one and then any other sheets following to the right or under it I cannot print not even alone. My file has been through numerous audits, recovers, and purges. The printer bubble shows  that there is an error with plotting a single page however when I look at the printing status page it says nothing is wrong.

Currently having the same ongoing problem after trying all of the above mentioned solutions. 
Additionally tried establishing ALL page layout settings per sheet prior to publishing the sheet set to PDF.

Continually crashes on a a particular sheet. Forces me to CTL+ALT+DELETe force stop and close Autocad 3d Civil entirely.

I'm becoming inclined to believe it is an XREF file.

In the past I have made blank files with duplicated names as the project, and temporarily replace them, the reference manage makes quick work of that.

if the the set now publishes all that is left is to find the offending dwg. that can be found by ref manager again one by one putting the original path back

I was having the same problem a few weeks ago on a multi-sheet drawing. I could plot a single layout without a problem, but publish kept hanging. It turned out to be my drawing. I still don't know what the problem was but I went back to a previous revision which printed fine.

I then recently had this problem again, but with a set of over 100 single sheet drawings. Going back to a previous revision was not an option so I fudged it by using "Autoscript" and a script file to print from the command line. Does the job but doesn't replace publish.

There must be something I'm doing that is giving publish a problem, but I haven't yet figured out what it is.

Was there ever any progress on this post. I've got a 500 sheet plan set to publish to PDF and experiencing the same. I'm attempting to publish by sheet set manager subset of only 5 drawings and it sticks. (Civil 3D 2018)

Not that I'm aware of @mnorton. Thankfully not had to print any large sets for a while. If the 500 sheets to be printed are each in their own drawing file then a temporary fix could be to use "Autoscript" and a short script file to print each drawing. Not much else I can offer unfortunately.

Hello Autodesk, you need to look into this. Im having same issue 17 plan set and it gets stuck at a sheet. Sometimes it will go to next sheet but only to get stuck again. Very slow plot. Have to kill C3D and i haven't been able to print my C3D drawings.
