Applying pipe rules when reversing pipe build direction

Good morning,

I've long been frustrated by how C3D applies its rules. The conventional direction to build a pipe network is upgradient to downgradient, but that can be inconvenient when you're aiming at a particular downgradient elevation like a sewer manhole invert. I'm about to (I think) starting teaching how to construct a network from down- to upstream by choosing the "reverse flow" option in the network layout tools. The sticking point is that when I do reverse the flow, whenever I start going upstream, adjusting my pipe inverts, whenever I apply my manhole rule to create a 0.1' drop across the manhole (in this case, it would be a rise), the rule is still applied in a downstream direction. In other words, I establish the outfall elevation in the structure, then "apply rules" to the structure, and it still changes the downstream pipe to match the upstream one, even though the build direction is reversed.

Anyone have an insight on what is going wrong?

Thanks, Tom
