Due to Windows 10 retirement. IT is going to replace five of our workstations.
They are specing the Dell Pro Max Tower T2 CTO Base FCT2250.
The build seem good with:
Intel Core Ultra 9 285K
NVIDIA RTX 4000 ADA, 20 GB GDDR6, 4 DP
128GB: 4 x 32 GB, DDR5, 4400 MT/s, ECC
The only issue I have is that up until now we've use Dell Precision Workstations. We have one 7960 that won't need replacement.
The kicker is that a Dell 7960 with a Xeon w5-3425 with all the other specs equivalent would be twice the price of the Dell Pro Max
Do you think I would have any justification on insisting on the 7960 workstation.
Right now all I have is a worry that the Pro Max sounds good. But if they hit our desks and they don't measure up. It's going to be a problem
We don't have huge Civil 3D projects. But a couple of miles of very customized corridor can eat up a lot of power. I also deal with County wide GIS data which freezes CAD for many minutes at a time with 64MB of RAM in my Dell Precision 7920.
