Good day Forum,

I am requiring assistance. I am new to the AutoDesk suite of Civil 3D, SSA and Hydroflow.

I need to model open channel flow for a stormwater project and I am seeking guidance on how to do this. From my understanding, it seems that Civil 3D cannot model a open channel in the Pipe Network creation tool (no open channel family part/component) and therefore does not support import/export between Civil 3D/SSA. Would Hydroflow be better suited? My current understanding is such:

  1. Model the open channel as a pipe network and export to SSA (to get the elevation data and layout)
  2. Analyse in SSA as a Open Channel to determine paremeters.
  3. Use paramerters from SSA to draw channel in Civil 3D

Any videos, tutorials or materials on best practice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
