alignment creatiion from polyline

Hello.

I have been trying to create an alignment from polyline(2d) in civil 3d by using "Create Alignment from Objects" ...The alignment gets created with all the chainages but the problem is that it doesn't recognize the curves in the alignment. It treats the entire alignment as a line...In the Geometry Editor table it shows the entire alignment as a line.I can't progress with my design of vertical profile until I get to know in the properties about the chainages from where the curves begin and where they end...

Please help me in this regard

Could you clarify your issue a bit more. Is the problem that you have created an alignment with curves, but your chainage labels follow the orginal polyline?

Did you tick the add curves box when created the alignment? What radius did you use - could you expect to see the radius or is it too big or small?

Did you keep or erase the original polyline? (it shouldn't matter BTW)

Can you post your drawing?

Does your alignment show the same features as below? (this is an OOTB alignment style in the ANZ country kit)

I copied a 2d polyline with curves and straights(exact outlay of the
alignment) from CAD2015 and pasted in civil 3d 2015 on the surface where I
want the alignment....After copying I used the "Create Alignment from
Objects" option and the alignment got created just as I wanted with
chainages...The difference was that when we create an alignment from
alignment creation tools we create both curves and straights and in the
"geometry editor" option it shows from which chainage it a particular curve
has begun and where it ends...but here after creating the alignment from
polyline when I open the "geometry editor" option to check where a
particular curve starts and where it ends it simply shows the entire
alignment as a line and does not tell me anything about the curve .....

I am sending an attachment with this email..It will help you understand
what I am trying to say....

In the Drawing "alignment", there is a curve starting at a chainage of
around 0+360....but in the other attachment "geometry editor" in the
geometry editor options it shows a line at and around that
chainage......whereas it shoud show a curve starting from 0+360 so that
while creating a vertical profile I will get to know from where the curve
is starting .... Also I cannot change the radius of the curve unless it
shows me where the curve is..

Your drawing didn't attach to your post.

With your geometry editing tools, you can get the stn and radius details though - see pic.

I think the attachment problem is in attaching a file to an email reply. AFAIK it doesn't work. You must come to the forum itself, click reply and attach your file to the post.

With regard to the alignment, if I remember correctly, when you create an alignment from polyline, with curves already included, you don't get the curve editing options. They are just fixed curves, copied from the polyline. You can delete the curve entity and recreate it as a free or floating curve, then you will get your options.
Or if you just need to know where it starts and ends, you can add labels that call out the station of the point of curvature and the point of tangency.
