Hi all,
I was looking to add a way of marking parts along my alignment (that aren't related to the alignment) with a label that also displays on my profile. The idea is to annotate certain points of interest along my proposed alignment (dropped crossings, location of proposed speed hump etc) and have those same points show on my profile.
The best idea I could think of was to draw a perpendicular alignment with a label and then use a crossing profile object with a label.
I am just wondering if there is a better way of doing this? I thought I saw an article about advanced alignment labeling but I can't find it. Perhaps I dreamt it.

I think working with Cogo-Points would be a bit faster and less hassle?
Their elevation won't automatically change with your profile but if it's okay if they just sit on top of your profile view they should work.
Otherwise cross sections would work as well. (Bring them in as a band)
You could probably do this with a Station Equation on the alignment. They were intended to be used for altering the stationing along an alignment but they can be used to simply tag a location with no change to the stationing. The station equation locations can be labeled in plan and profile. The equation's name defaults to the station value but you can rename it to whatever you want. You can find these on the Station Control tab of the Alignment Properties.
Simlar to @cwr001 said, this can easily be done with points that are projected onto the profile. I typically use the point's "autocad" description (not cogo raw desc) for the note that will be used in the crossing label. You can also get fancy by getting the elevation for the crossing point from a surface so you can have a dedicated surfave for this if you want or you can use the the same that's being used in the profile and then adjust the label style to display a certain distance about the "feature" anchor point. Hope this helps!

I do also use cogo points, especially for projecting corners of proposed build pads. But I wanted something that was tied to the alignment for this scenario.
