Aerial Imagery Date/Year of Photography

Hello,

I am currently in need of the year of photography of the aerial imagery that Civil 3D procures from Bing when a location is set in a drawing. I am assuming this year of capture changes from location to location. I also know that this year pops up on the map when your location is set (see below), but I do not believe this is the year of capture (I could be wrong on this). Is there an easy way to find the year aerial imagery was photographed on Civil 3D? Thank you!

If you use the "Capture Area" command (Geolocation tab), the source and year come up in the bottom of the window when you draw your "capture area" polygon around the imagery you want the date from...These dates and sources change as you zoom in/out or in different areas depending (I think) upon who supplied the data. Hope this helps!

I don't think it is the date when the aerial picture was taken, rather the copyright date.

I have tested it in different locations in Scotland and it always gave me 2020 date, even if obviously the picture was older.

It looks to me that it is not possible to determine the date when the picture was taken using Civil3D.

The solution is not correct and is an outright lie.. the date below is the Copyright Date of imagery only. It does not reflect the actual capture date of the imagery..  The imagery shown below is almost 4 years old. The actual imagery from 2023 is shown further below.. You can tell its significantly different

I ran into this same issue recently, and after looking at the accepted solution for this and other similar topics, realized that many of the older solutions are no longer viable in 2024.  Fortunately, with the recent addition of ESRI imagery to Civil3D, there is another solution, at least for the ESRI imagery.

The following ESRI webmap has imagery capture dates.  Hope someone finds this helpful.
