Adjust Background Color of Text Component Editor Box

Good morning All.

Please see attached. This is an issue I've essentially have put up with for a while.

When changing the text of a label in the text component editor, I can't see the text. I resort to highlighting the text and hoping I can select the right line and if I make a mistake I have to do it again because I can't see what I'm typing. Can you change the background color of the text component editor without having to change the color of the space I'm in or having to change the clear text option in Windows or whatever it is called?

Thank you for the reply. As my post mentions, I was really hoping to avoid changing that setting in Windows. This is a work computer and I'm not sure how changing the setting would affect the look of text in the rest of Windows applications/softwares.

Disregard what I suggested earlier.  I didn't read all the way to the end of your message.

However, here is what I'm seeing.   The text color in the editor seems to be related to the color of the layer set on the General tab for the label style ... but not exactly.   A magenta layer will show magenta text in the editor but a yellow layer will show cyan text, and a cyan layer shows yellow text, red shows blue, but green shows green.   I don't know why or what the relationship is for showing the actual color vs a substitute is.  Its bizarre.

Agreed. I don't know what the method to the madness is.

I've seen other post in regards to this from years ago, so it's nothing new. I would think that something like this would have been dealt with by now?

I think the background color is set by the dwg modelspace background color. I have found that a grey background color set works best for me. To get there go to options, display tab, color box, then I use 153,153,153 color.

Thanks for the response. Yes, the background color is based off the color of the space you are in. As mentioned in the post, I would really rather not have to do that.

@srousey74V5X, Post 2 ... "I Can See Clearly Now ..."   Better Visibility for Text Component Editor Contents Window.

This is a different post than those linked to in Message 2, and Message 8.

Warning: The Clear Type Text setting is discussed, but other options are explored. See if you can find something that works for you.
There are links to a couple of Ideas posts that you might want to vote for. (Like.)

Shane, you said: "I've seen other post in regards to this from years ago, so it's nothing new. I would think that something like this would have been dealt with by now?"

I Part 1 of my linked post; I concluded that the Label Style Composer is a Level 3 element of C3D that is unlikely to get any attention from the C3D team.
This issue is not high on my personal C3D Wish List, so I am not bothered by its possible low priority.

Thank you for the response. However, as mentioned in the post, I really don't want to have to do that.

I turned off the Cleartype text. It did help being able to read what is in the text component editor, however, it altered the appearance of text in other locations such as other autocad dialogue boxes and seeing Outlook email. I don't want to sacrifice being able to clearly see text in the rest of Windows because I can't see something in the text editor of Civil3D. I don't think we should have to make such a sacrifice in 2023.
