Adding Breaklines to surface

Hello,

I just created a Surface. After, I added Breaklines to the Surface.  After reviewing my Surface, it seems that the Surface is not recognizing the Breaklines.  Am I doing something wrong?  I attached the DWG...

Thanks

Hi Jeff,

It shows on the image (attachment) that I have Breaklines attached to the Surface.  I also attached the DWG.  Do I need to offset the edges of the surface so that the Breakliones would be recognized?  Not sure what I am doing wrong.

Thanks again...

Hi @arpenteur ,

It seems that you don't have breaklines, but a block reference.

You need to explode it and the add the breaklines to the surface.

Hope it helps.

Regards.

Hi Topmig,

I know that I created Breaklines along the Surface on both sides and in the center.  So, how do I attach Breaklines to my Surface?  I modified my Breaklines in my Profiles.  That is why I need to attach the Breaklines to my SURF-TEST.

Can someone help me?

Not nit picking the nomenclature but we add break lines to a surface not attach... Maybe this distinction will elucidate

Hi Joe,

My first language is French, I may do some mistakes.  I did not take this personally.

But, is there a way that you can help me?

 Thanks...

@arpenteur I think C3D is not using the breaklines you added. I have a tool that lists information about objects, including if they are being used as a breakline, and which surface it is used in. I am not getting any linework to show up with such information in your drawing, until I add just one featureline as a breakline in a new breakline set. Looking at the 100+ breaklines you've added (first, that is  a lot for a single set, better off making multiple sets) there are many with just 1 vertice, and many more with just 2.

I suggest just adding just a few breaklines to start, the centerline and edge of pavement featurelines. Also, be sure to use the Supplemental and Weeding factors. I would suggest 20 and 0.2 for these settings.

Hi @arpenteur ,

I think i undestand what you need.

See if i'm right:

  1. You created a surface with a point group and several breaklines
  2. You created some new feature lines to adjust the elevations, creating profiles for that,
  3. You need to adjust your surface with the new feature lines.

I don't think that is possible, because you have points, that are the origin of the surface, forcing the surface to that elevations. When you add a breakline in the exact same position with a diferent elevation, the software maintain the original structure.

If it was me, i would create a new clean surface with the new feature lines.

Hope it helps,

Regards.
