Add line tables, General Line Label Tag by using Line between two points

Well I think I just found a little quirk with line tables.

I had added a general line label Tag using the “line between 2 points”.

When I went to make my table by selecting the general style, it does not show up. If I use the selection box and pick it manually it works.

In table creation, I like to select the styles and then in the selection rule use add existing and new. This way leaves me flexibility to add/edit/remove Tags keeping my line table dynamic.

I hope I am just missing something, but I guess I shouldn’t be surprised since I’m not picking a line and just using between two points, but I thought it would work. It will even renumber the tag. I tried in 2018 as well.

Hi @jefflambert9091

I reviewed the add line table, general labels using the "line between 2 points" command in both Civil 3D 2017-18 and I was not able to reproduce what you explained in your post. Are you missing the general label styles below?

Here is a video below showing the steps, I took to produce a line table using the "line between 2 points" command. Hopefully, this helps you see if your the process is correct.

@BushW, Wendall, I think you missed the part about using the Add existing and new option. When you use this with option and have labels on a line, those labels will be automatically selected when creating the table...i.e., no need to select them manually in the drawing. When you have the same style labeling between 2 points, those labels will not be found automatically and you must manually select them. This is what Jeff is wanting to avoid. Plus, when you add a new label to a line, it will automatically get added to an existing table (when that existing and new option was used), whereas a new label between 2 points will not be added to an existing table.
