2D Road Markings onto Surface

Greetings,

Anyone got any advise on how to 'drape' Road Markings (at 2D elevation 0) onto a Surface.

The Road Markings are a combination of blocks, hatches, text and polylines.

Hi there, you can convert all your markings to individual blocks and then use the "Elevation from surface" tool to pull them onto the surface.

Regards!

Maybe setup a Feature Line style as road markings. As you create the Feature Line, assign it to the surface. Explode it to a 3D poly if needed.

How about this workflow?

1- Use infraworks to create your striping on the surface

Create an FDO database connection in Map 3D or Civil 3D to the InfraWorks model sqlite database to connect to the coverage data

  • Extract the coverage data to polygon
  • Edit the polygons in Civil 3D or Map 3D

Thanks for sharing @Ann-Marie_Valois, that is a really good option. Best regards!

Many thanks to all those who responded. much appreciated.

We went with the option to convert the elements to blocks and then move to surface.
