2014 to 2013 causes FATAL ERROR when drawing has infill grading

We just installed 2014 on two work stations and saved a few Civil 3D files with it. When we try to open these Civil 3D drawings in 2013 they crash with a FATAL ERROR.

The last few lines on the command line shows:

Loading Modeler DLLs.

Modeling Operation Error:

     Operation unsuccessful.

Modeling Operation Error:

     Operation unsuccessful.

This error seems to only happen with drawings that have infill grading. I tested it with a drawing with just poly lines and it worked fine. I then converted those poly lines into feature lines using 2014 and it opened fine in 2013. I then added an infill to the feature line region in 2014 and it crashes in 2013.

Is this a known issue? Is there a fix for it?

If you want to post your drawings, we can try it here to confirm the problem.

Here is the file I used to determine the problem. This is basically 3 feature lines in a triangular shape, then infilled. I saved it in 2014 at every step (blank drawing, polylines, feature lines, then infill) then tested it in 2013 and this is where the fatal error starts happening.

This file opens as it should in 2014. 2013 is where the problem is.

I am getting the same issue with your drawing. If I create a fresh drawing and populate with a closed feature line and infill, 2013 opens that file fine. See attached. Can you open it in 2013?

Yes, I can open your version just fine.

May I ask what SP you have on 2014 and 2013?

I'm thinking that this may be a template problem. I will investigate further. Thanks for your help with this.

** I found that the template we use for 2013 causes the crashes. I opened the template in 2014 and saved as a new template file and that one now works. Thanks for the help testing the files we created. Outside data is a huge help.

I have a 2013 fully updated. 2014 is not installed. I get the FE.

I put a link to this discussion in my CER.

I've created new drawings using the acad -Named Plot Styles.dwt and the acad.dwt templates with nothing in them other than an infill. I still get this error when I open it in 2013.

This does not seem to be an issue with our specific template but an incompatibility issue from 2014 to 2013.

I've attached the files below.

My workstation has been upgraded since the first post, as well as 2014 being reinstalled 2 times before the upgrade. If someone is able to open these files, then it may be an installation issue that we would have to contact our support center about.
