XREF layers are unsearchable by typing one letter. All XREF layers start with the same letter.

I have my companies layers setup so I can quickly select any layer by typing just a few letters.  Every layer from an XREF in the Layers Properties Manager begins with the same letter.  I know we used to be able to remove the XREF title for the XREF layers without writing a Lisp routine or deep diving through the REGISTRY, so what gives.  Shouldn't this be turned off by default?
I've attached a pic from this forum that appears to show XREF layers without the prefix.
Thanks All

XREFs behave like BLOCKs and can be renamed using RENAME if that helps.

Thanks for your reply.  I just need the XREF name to not show up before the layer name in Layer Properties Manager.  That way I can quickly access a layer by typing in the first letter.

I have never seen AutoCAD do that. Perhaps posting in the AutoCAD or AutoCAD customization forums will give better results.

I might try that.  I will keep waiting for a fix on this forum.  Next week, I may post on the customization side.

No one know how to remove the XREF name from the layer name in Layer Properties Manager?

@clp since this is really an AutoCAD question you would get more people looking at it than just us C3D programmers. This is why I previously suggested other forums.

I will also repeat that I have never seen AutoCAD do this so not sure that it is actually possible.

Yeah, but posting somewhere else is a lot of work, and I need to get this subdivision out the door and off my desk! 🙂 Oh well, like I said I'll try your suggestion this week. I deemed it worth one more post on the ol' C3D forum. Thanks Jeff,

That’s not a solution until you get one in your thread over in the. AutoCAD forum. It looks like they are only confirming what has already been said here.

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.
