Ortho On not functioning with Profile Grips

I’m having an issue on profiles created in 2016 vs previous versions. Where in 2015 (or earlier )with ORTHO turned on,  I could move a PVI  by simply moving my mouse in that general direction with a distance and the point would move to the ortho location regardless of where my actual crosshair was at. In files that I have created using 2016, the profile points now snap in the general direction of my crosshairs, regardless of ORTHO being on and SNAP being off. I can open that same file in 2015 and that functionality is still gone. But opening a drawing with 2016 that was created with 2015, I can still snap with ortho as expected. Did 2016 lose this basic function? Or am I missing some setting someplace?

Presuming you're talking about moving a PVI of a Profile object.

I made a profile in 2014 and ortho works fine.
I opened this DWG in 2016 and the ortho still works fine.
I made another profile using 2016 and ortho works fine there also.

Your first 2 test I agree with. But for me, and at least one other I am working with on different projects, the files created in 2016 are acting differently. Maybe I am missing a setting you have turned on?

I have added 2 images maybe to help out my issue. Is this similar to how you ran your last tests?  In “Picture 01” I  first grip the PVI, then I move my mouse upward with ortho on, then I enter a distance of 100 in the command line and hit enter. In the picture, you can see my crosshairs are a bit more off to the right than the projected ortho line.  In Picture 02, you can see my PVI is not to the right oc the PC station where before it was just to the left. My profiles created with earlier versions don’t do this, which makes me believe it is a drawing setting and not a profile setting if anything.

Did your alignment have any C3D intersections attached as well?

As I was going to attach a CAD file for you to try out, I removed all of the adjacent Alignments that also had intersections created to it that hold the elevations of the parent alignment. After I removed the intersection points/nodes that show up in plan view, the profile now works as the grips shown in your demo. It seems for me that intersections might be what is causing the issue I am having.

No, mine was just a dummy drawing that I threw together real fast.

Drop us an update if you figure out any more info. Thanks.
