Use values from previous scenario in the next one!?

Hey there,

first of all i want to apologize for my english (german here).

 

I have a question about values on scenarios. I am simulating a cycle where a geometry gets heatend up and cooled down (while an inner cooling system is working)

 

I have several scenarios atm looking like: heat1->cool1->heat2->cool2 and so on

 

At the moment i am manually typing in the values from the end of each previous scenario in the beginning of the next.

 

Is there a way to "link" values? Like cool1 start temperature is temperature at time 10s from scenario heat 1?

Is there a reason behind dividing the heating-cooling cycle into scenarios? Why don't you create just one scenario where you apply a transient total heat generation where the value is negative for x seconds and then positive after y seconds?2017-06-23_07-49-15.jpg

Hey there,

thank you for answering my question. This could be a way, i can't try it at the moment but is it possible to define a "holding" time?

 

E.g. second 0->600°C

0-15 -->no external heating at all (cooling down from 600°C)

16-->600°C

and so on!?

Hi Johannes,

 

It is possible to define the variation you want. 

 

For example:

If you are using the total heat generation (in Watt), you can give the following:2017-07-03_09-50-28.jpg

 Here is how your plot would look like:2017-07-03_09-51-42.jpg

This is just an example for transient heat generation. You can also define a transient temperature but please make sure to have the temperature applied inside your model. (because the temperature is a surface boundary condition. It should be defined externally)

Hello Amal,

i already tried this out. The problem accuring here is that the value goes to 0°C, which is not the way i want it to be. Is there a "input" like "rest" instead of 0!?

 

My simulations needs the 500°C at start...the cool down from 500° to X (0-15s) -->500°C(16s) cool down again and so on.

 

I guess there is only a way to do it, by creating several scenarios and run one after the other with previous values!?
