Hi! I am new to autodesk CFD and I'm having trouble understanding the scalar and how it correlates to interpreting the results. I understand that distinguishes between materials and represents the concentration of the scalar quantity but I’m a bit confused on what this means and how it correlates to interpreting results. Does this mean that, for example, if you set the density to vary by scalar, that you can take a result of 0.2 and multiple it by the initial density for a density at the outlet? Also, is using a scalar necessary for mixing of two gasses or can you just rely on mechanical mixing? Is scalar mixing equivalent to diffusive mixing and non-scalar is equivalent to mechanical mixing?
I'm also seeing that you can determine the ppm of the fluid through simply multiplying the scalar by 1e6, but for what I am trying to achieve (the fluid I am trying to model should not have a high concentration at all) it wouldn't make sense for there to be 500 000 ppm when it is at a scalar of 0.5. Would I decrease the initial scalar for this to lower or is there something else I can change to make it emit slower?
