Hello,

Can you share your Inventor model with us?

Hello @marwan_azzam,

I think I have attached the model, are you able to view it? the file size doesn't seem particularly large.

The model is the internal of some flow apparatus in which all the solid here represents the available space water can fill.

eg the cutout in the manifold is a baffle in real life.

Is this 3D design too complicated for CFD, do I have to simplify it to a 2D flow path?

Hello Derek,

Thank you for sending the model.

Which versions of Inventor and CFD are you using?

If you are using Inventor 2021, which I think you are, you cannot open that in CFD.

I used the step file you sent and opened that in CFD 2019 with no issue.

Please see attached (zipped) cfz file.

Interesting @marwan_azzam

I can not open the file you attached in CFD 2019. I get the following error:

The design study cannot be opened

suggested solutions:

1. check disk space and file permissions of your working directory

2. ensure that another process is not accessing the file.

My hard drive has 90 GB free

I cant see any issues with my permissions, everything is enabled.

I am using a trial version of CFD 2019 which was a challenge to download last week dealing with technical support quite a lot. i have noticed when I open CFD it always asks if i want to install fusion 360, is this needed for CFD?

it also opens with the licencing page which technical support told me to simply click run to allow me into the 30day free trial however as a student i am running out of time with this going nowhere (22days left)

and when i click RUN it seems to proceed but then opens the licencing page again and i have to do it a second time to open CFD. I have not managed to import anything in CFD that works, even the inbuilt tutorials.

any help would be appreciated 🙂
