How to get the average temperature of a surface?

Hello forum! I am trying to get the average temperature (or in general, any average variable) over a specific surface or volume. Any ideas on how to get that task done will be highly appreciated.

If you need to obtain the average temperature, pressure etc of a surface, does the Wall Calculator (Results panel) serve your purpose? 

Select one or more surfaces, checkmark the parameters of interest, and hit Calculate. You'll get a report in the Output tab of that dialog with the area of the selected wall, and the average values of the selected parameters.

That does it for the temperature, but what about the "or in general, any average variable" part of the question?

If I computed the operative temperature, or the solar load or the Tau-XY, what solution do I have to extract the averages on a surface? Or on a volume?
