Generating a license file for CFD 2016

I've been having quite a bit of trouble with CFD liscences lately.

After downloading CFD 2016, the program demands a liscensing file which I cannot find anywhere on my computer. While I have a full student liscense

(Product key, serial # etc), I have no idea how to generate a liscence file to make CFD actually start up. Can anybody help?

Thanks for reaching out to Autodesk Community!

When first installing the standalone version of Autodesk CFD, you should have a window where you choose between installing using a license file or a serial number.

Would you please try again uninstalling CFD then making the installation again to see if you get the chance to choose to install with a serial number?

Updating the software to CFD 2017 allowed me to get it running with the serial number. However, I still cannot solve CFD problems. After attempting to solve any problem, the following error appears:

After running the LMTOOLS utility, I discovered that:

-There is no license server running on my PC.

-Attempting to create a license server requires a license file, among other things.

How would I go about getting the software to recognize my license?

Side note: Autodesk Inventor Professional 2017 works perfectly. CFD is the only Autodesk program which I am having issues with.

Hi Brian,

You should be able to install only the standalone version (Student version) of CFD 2017. Thus, you can only use your serial number to have CFD work on your machine.

Would you please give more details about the steps you followed to update CFD 2017?

Ok, these are the steps I used to update CFD:

-Uninstalled CFD 2016

-Went to manage.autodesk.com

-Downloaded "CFD Study Environment 2017"

-Ran installer

-Ran CFD; entered the serial #/ Product key associated with CFD design study environment

-Accepted credentials, but cannot solve problems

-Uninstalled CFD 2017

-Downloaded "CFD Motion 2017" from manage.autodesk.com

-Strangely enough, the installer program has the same name, and ONLY accepts the product key associated with CFD design study environment; not the product key listed under "CFD Motion 2017"

-Accepted credentials for CFD design study environment, but still cannot solve problems

Found the Issue! I never downloaded the update. Thanks for your help
