does anyone know if its possible to divide a model into two parts or designs, making one give the other boundary conditions? thanks

Hi @Anonymous,

Thanks for reaching out to us on the forums! I'm not quite sure what you mean by this. Are you trying to edit CAD? Break CAD into separate surfaces or volumes? Are you referring to design scenarios/studies? If you assign boundary conditions in a certain scenario, you can clone that scenario and the boundary conditions and other details will be carried over.

Maybe you could post some screenshots or something to help specify your question. I am looking forward to hearing from you!

Thanks,

Do you mean something like modelling a PCB in detail, then taking the results of this and applying to a larger model without all of the detail?

We can't really do this, not in a totally smooth way at least 🙂

It depends on what you are trying to achieve as it might be possible to manually take some results and apply them as inputs to a larger model. They would not be mapped 1:1 though, they would need to be standard boundary conditions again.

Hope that helps,

Jon

Hi Jon!

yes and no. I meant the other way around. Like in 2d modeling with de hotstart.

The idea was to make a big model and give the little model (with more detail) the boundary condition. Or also, divide the model into two part, so it doest requiere to much computational resources, and one model pass the other one of the boundary condition. A simple example of this would be a box giving to other box the boundaries at one of the walls.

thanks!
