default relaxation factor for eddy viscosity

Hi all,

what is the default relaxation factor for nu_t? It seems to be 0.1

Thanks

Florian

Hi Florian,

Thanks for reaching out 🙂

The relaxation parameter for each degree of freedom (pressure, temperature, velocity...) can be found under the Solution control dialog box (Manual Convergence).

By default, the Intelligent Solution Control is enabled where  CFD automatically adjusts the convergence controls and the time step size to attain a solution.

Does this help?

Thanks,

Amal

HI Amal, thx for your feedback! So, it adjusts the time step for transient simulations and under-relaxation factor for steady-state simulation during the simulation?

Cheers

Florian

Hi Florian,

By enabling the Intelligent Solution Control, CFD adjusts the time step as well as the convergence control settings (the relaxation parameters) for steady state analyses.

For transient analyses (without moving objects), enabling the Intelligent Solution Control adjusts only the time step size and does not modify the convergence control settings.

The help documentation about the Manual Convergence gives more details on how the Manual control (relaxation parameters) works 🙂

Thanks,

Amal
