Data Center CRAC unit with heat exchanger BC and centrifugal fan BC

Hello,

I am trying to simulate a data center with Heat exchangers in a closed loop so that the air from the CRAC unit (the heat exchanger/cooling coil) cools the air , then pushes it to an underfloor plenum and then to the RACK units (the servers) and then back to the CRAC- heat exchanger outlet to remove the heat from the system.

I am trying to get the CRAC units to be like in real life where you have the cooling coil (the CRAC) and then a centrifugal fan that pushes the air.

The problem is that It seems i can't use the both in a row.

the heat exchanger have flow rate for its own and if i put a centrifugal fan afterward I have a problem with the pressure in the system, So autodesk CFD doesn't know where to push the air from and where should it flow.

I would get 2 static pressure 0 in the same system (the heat exchanger have 0 pressure in its outlets, and the centrifugal fan also have one).

Would appreciate your help.

Thanks.

Hi @Anonymous,

Instead of using a heat exchanger and an internal fan device, how about modelling the Cooking coils as resistances with negative total heat generation BCs applied to them and then adding a internal fan downstream?

All the best,

David
