CFD nozzle simulation

I have created a nozzle (Inventor) that will generate an internal swirl as water passes through it.  I have modelled it and it works on the internal of the nozzle.  Now I want to see what the spray pattern looks like when the nozzle discharges into air.  Can CFD 2016 model the discharge from the nozzle?

Any help would be appreciated - Thankyou.

Hi,

We cannot really model water spraying into air, even with the free surface modeller - there's an article on this here.

I would also say that you need an inlet and outlet extension on your model. 5x diameter in length on the inlet and 10x on the outlet. At the moment the lengths are likely to be impacting your results.

Kind regards,

Jon
