CFD 2019.2 CPU USAGE : AMD RYZEN 9 3950X

Hello,

I try a new hardware setup with AMD Ryzen 3950X, 16Core/32Threads but CPU usage never exceeds 65%.

Proc is 16 Core so it schould use all Core. I run CFDconfig : 1 socket, 16 core, Hyperthreading on, affinity on..

Did i miss something ?

Thank you by advance

Denis

I have the same processor setup and als a max. CPU Usage of approx. 65%. I thought this might be an issue of the Windows Taskmanager counting Hyperthreating altough it is not used?

Maybe someone has more information on that...

Anyway, I'm very pleased with the 3950X!

Hello,

I have disable HyperThreading in the Bios (SMT option) and now we have x16 physical Core running at 100% loading.

I don't know yet if it's faster than 32 Cores running @Anonymous% cpu loading. Tests will be done later.

Processor is very stable with 128Go DDR4.

Yes, disabling hyperthreding in bios allows you to use 100% of your CPU. Unfortunately, with single-threaded applications like AutoCad, that doesn't mean you'll have more CPU power available. A CPU that uses one core because a process that uses only one core can still only use one core. This is independent of the total number of cores. It just means what's displayed looks bigger because you have a smaller number available.

Take a look at the thread here:
