I have an industrial silencer with client given outlet conditions ie flowrate and pressure.

Working with the cfd boundary input its not a problem assigning these figures to the outlet,the problem is what do i assign to the inlet.

Do i assign the flowrate,do i assign none,there does seem to be a collection of different options.

Having chosen what i thought was correct and running a simulation i find that the flow vectors give some unexpected results.

Any idea what should be assigned to the inlet boundary.

Hi,

 

The most common set up is a flow rate at the inlet (which is the same as at the outlet if incompressible)

Pressure at the outlet, which is typically a P=0. The delta will be the same regardless of the value if incompressible.

 

CFD will prepdict the inlet pressure for you and that will be your system pressure drop.
