2D Internal fan flow direction setup

Hello,

I am trying to define an Internal Fan material for a 2D model. The edge has an angle and I cannot select an edge for flow direction. Also, I cannot enforced the vector direction myself, like (-1,-1,0).

Do you have any suggestions ?

PS: It is a large domain for a forced convection analysis with multiple supply/exhaust and multiple jet fans in several directions

Here is a picture of the problem.

A 2D internal fan with an angle but a fan-flow material definition impossible to set in any directions except for Global X, Y. The solver diverge as soon as recirculation hit the internal fan

Hi @Anonymous,

Setting the flow direction for an internal fan in the 2D modeling is limited to using the global axis X, Y or Z.

Would it be fine for you to change the orientation of your model in the CAD Software in a way that you make sure that the flow direction is inline with one of the global axis?

Regards,

Amal

Hi Amal,

I thought about it, but I have all kind of fan orientation in the carpark. I have opted for another option though, I modified the housing around to redirect the flow where I need it to be. See the picture below

Hi @Anonymous,

Yes, it is also another idea if this is possible for you to change the housing geometry 🙂

PS: You really have a nice mesh! Well done!!

Thanks,

Amal
