Building Ops compatibility

Dear,

Please, I'm searching about Building Ops and would like to know if it has compatibility with AutoCAD, Civil3D, Infraworks and Navisworks or if Autodesk has another solution for Facility Management of transportantion projects (subway, highway, railway...)?

Thanks!

Hi,

Building Ops is a BIM-enabled, asset and maintenance management solution for Buildings. We support model export to Building Ops from BIM 360 Field and Revit only. Building Ops is not designed to be a solution for managing linear assets, such as highways and railroads.

Thanks for your interest and the question.

Best,

Jason

I think building ops is a maintenance management solution that enables contractors and building owners to realize the value of BIM in building operations.

Is there a roadmap available for the workflow ?  How are situation best handled when the authoring software is not Revit?

Hi,

No, we have no current plans to offer support for additional model-based workflows for uploading data to Ops. We remain committed to providing direct export of equipment data from BIM 360 Field and Revit. For non-model-based workflows, we support the upload of asset data from CSV files, in addition to ad-hoc entry using the mobile and web apps.

Thanks for your question.

Best,

So what is the solution if a design team is in revit and trade contractors are in CAD and the end result is Ops ? Not all equipment information will come from the design team's revit model.

Hi,

There are a few suggested paths you might take if you are working with CAD and model data.

  1. Aggregate Revit and non-Revit models and attributed CAD files in BIM 360 Glue, create equipment sets for managed assets you wish to track during operations and load the Glued model into BIM 360 Field. Add documents and site photos in Field and export to Ops.
  2. Create and manage equipment records in Field and add attributes, photographs, and documents there during installation.
  3. Manage equipment records in CAD, export attributes to a CSV file and import into Ops. Add photos and documents in Ops or use hyperlinks that were in CSV export from CAD.

There are likely some other variations. Hopefully, this helps.

Best,

Jason
