random graphics problems

Having random graphics issues with uploads.

I've uploaded a number of suites from Revit into BIM360.

Approx half of them work just fine, the other half are having serious display problems.

They are all similar so there is no reason why i can determine some are displaying poorly.

Of course I have a presentation tomorrow morning.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Shane,

Typically this would be due to you using different custom materials or view settings in the different files. BIM 360 Team doesn't do so well with customer materials but works well with the out of the box ones.

Can you confirm if you're using identical materials and all the view settings are the same here?

Let me know,

Thanks,

Hi. The materials are identical in both files. They are standard Revit materials.

In addition, not only are the materials the same, the millwork is loaded from a common link into each "suite".

So the graphics error is occurring in one file vs. another is occurring on a common element.

So I've been trying to get to the bottom of this all morning

I've got 7 different apartment suites, set up as 7 files.

All 7 files are uploaded independently as "assemblies"

Each file has links to the kitchen layout, the washroom layouts and the exterior walls.

In 4 of the 7 files there are no graphics problems, in 3 there are.

The problems are not only loss of material, but elements are missing faces, etc.

In the 3 assemblies, only the linked elements are experiencing the graphical issues.

What I don't understand is why they would experience such an issue in one host file but not another.

I've gone into each of the links and revised materials to make sure all materials are standard.

I've attempted unloading and reloading the links, i've also attempted only loading one link to see if there is an issue with a specific link

No success.  Any link that is loaded into the file seems to experience these issues.

if i bind the links into the host suite files the problems go away

not a good solution.

hi Shane, I'm sorry about the issue's you're seeing here.

  • I'll forward your notes here over to the right team to see if they have any thoughts as to why this might be happening.
  • The other thing i'd recommend that you do is to repost a truncated version of this into the Revit Forum, to get that team's opinion as well.

Thanks for your patience.

Thanks,
