Transmittal Expiration Date

Is there a way to assign an expiration date to a transmittal. For example: If I create a transmittal today I don't want a recipient waiting 3 weeks to get around to looking at it. I want to set a date, and after that date, the transmittal becomes unavailable.

The Transmittal is supposed to be a registry for (formal) document delivery. It cannot be deleted/archived/voided as that would defeat its purpose.
