Can you tag or link an asset to a piece of equipment in a revit model that is in a folder in BIM 360?

This is a topic we have researched deeply in my company. As far as I know this is NOT possible and it's a BIG limitation of BIM360 functions.

For most of our projects it's not very useful to have and asset list with many alphanumeric parameters of the installation but not linked to the model BIM elements.  Having this connexion would apport much value.

Wishing Autodesk moves forward with this topic.

Best,

This is quite disappointing as the clunky old BIM 360 Field Classic was invaluable for this.

Yeah, not do-able.

The workaround we've done in the past is to have the families exported as CAD files, uploaded with spec documents etc into the various folders and then link them to the Asset Feature - gives you at least a 3D view of the object, custom attributes if needed, and named the same as the RVT file to create the 'round-robin' effect.

Tandem looks like might solve this, however at this point you can't link the Assets to Tandem either but I can link various assets to Revit models in Tandem.

Hey All,

I just wanted to highlight that Tandem does support document linking. See the Forum Post about this here. Additionally, users can map a link parameter in Revit to a link parameter in Tandem. That means that if a URL needs to be associated with an asset/element, it can be entered into Revit and brought into Tandem later.

If anyone needs me to elaborate more, please let me know.

Hello Jessica,

I am a bit confused about the connection between the Document linking features in Tandem and this issue about the impossibility to connect BIM360 Assets with the objects of the loaded Revit models.

Cheers,

BIM 360 you can't link an Asset to a 3D model - aka Tandem will be your best bet, however that is for different people and workflows most often.

In one of the previous releases for ACC this year (2022), you can now link Assets to Revit and map parameters between them.
